This document provides important information about Discovery Collector, which you should read before you install or update the software. For the most up-to-date version of this document, see the following article on the Symantec Enterprise Support site:

Discovery Collector 10.0.1 is supported for use with Enterprise Vault 10.0.1 and later.
The documentation that accompanies Discovery Collector provides extensive information on installation and configuration processes.
Support for NTLM 2 authentication has been added.
Support for Windows 7 as a desktop data source has been added.
A number of minor, reported issues have been resolved.
To update to Discovery Collector 10.0.1 from 10.0, follow the instructions in Chapter 22 of the Discovery Collector 10.0 User Guide.
It is highly recommended that you update using the default remote update repository as described in the "Updating Nodes" section on page 265 of the Discovery Collector 10.0 User Guide.
If you cannot access the remote HTTP site from your system, you can perform
the update locally. To do this, download the file named Symantec_Enterprise_Vault_Discovery_Collector_10_0_1_Update.iso
from the Symantec FileConnect site and then follow the instructions in the
"Updating Nodes" section on page 265 of the Discovery Collector 10.0
User Guide.
To migrate from Discovery Collector 9.0.n to Discovery Collector 10.0.1, you must first export the database from the Discovery Collector 9.0.n virtual appliance to an NFS share, and then import the database from the share into a Discovery Collector 10.0.1 virtual appliance.
IMPORTANT: You must be running Discovery Collector 9.0.2 or 9.0.3 in order to migrate to Discovery Collector 10.0.1. If you are running the original Discovery Collector 9.0 release, you must first migrate to Discovery Collector 9.0.3 before you migrate to Discovery Collector 10.0.1.
If possible, update to Discovery Collector 9.0.3 by using a remote repository. For procedural information, see the "Updating Software" section on page 226 of the Discovery Collector 9.0 User Guide. To obtain the URL that you require for this process, see the Enterprise_Vault_Discovery_Collector_9_0_3-Download_instructions.htm document on the Discovery Collector 9.0 page of the Symantec FileConnect site.

To export the database from Discovery Collector 9.0.2 or 9.0.3, follow these steps:
The manifest is written to the export directory and contains an entry for each data set written to the export directory, including a content-based hash.
To install Discovery Collector 10.0.1, follow the instructions in the Discovery Collector 10.0 Installation and Planning Guide.

The Review pane of the Discovery Accelerator client includes a filter option called Temporary Assignment, which lets users reserve a specified number of items in the review set. When a user selects this option, other reviewers cannot see the reserved items until the user has finished work on them.
Note that selecting the Temporary Assignment option can cause delays in Discovery Collector export runs. If Discovery Accelerator users want to browse review items without marking or tagging them or adding comments to them, we recommend that they select the All Items filter option instead.
SharePoint metadata is not available for email sourced from SharePoint in Discovery Accelerator Review.
SharePoint items with no file extension will have the extension .eml
appended to its file name when exported. The exception is items with a MIME
type of Outlook/MAPI on SharePoint without a file extension. These objects
will be exported with the .msg file extension.
Based on the data source, the file location field in Discovery Accelerator Review will have the following format for objects archived by Enterprise Vault Discovery Collector:
